Raleigh, NC May 1, 2008 - The Oaks at Fallon Park began as a vision and grew to become a reality with the help of a tremendous group of people. Plans to create a unique and appealing neighborhood were months in the making. Eveyone worked to make sure the neighborhood would fit into the surrounding historic neighborhoods. When the plans were complete they were submitted to the City of Raleigh for approval and recordation. The Oaks at Fallon Park was also the first neighborhood development to be submitted under the City’s newly adopted Tree Conservation Plan. City officials worked with the Oaks team to identify the most desirable trees for conservation, and the Oaks also committed to planting more than 189 new street trees with an investment of more than $275,000 – deeming this as the “The Oaks Tree Renewal Program”.
In an effort to continue the Oaks Tree Renewal Program, we hope many of our homeowners will participate as well. Parker’s Landscape, a well-respected group in the Raleigh and surrounding areas, has researched native trees for our area and put together a suggested list for the homeowner to chose from should they want to include a “Renewal” tree to their landscape plans. Grubb Ventures, on behalf of The Oaks at Fallon Park, will donate $100 to Trees Across Raleigh for every home sold at The Oaks at Fallon Park beginning May 1, 2008. Trees Across Raleigh is a volunteer organization which holds tree plantings in public spaces of Raleigh two times a year. This organization started eleven years ago in an effort to enhance the appearance of the City of Raleigh and to benefit all Raleigh residents. For more information on this organization please visit their website at www.TreesAcrossRaleigh.org.
We believe the addition of native trees will increase property values, help to conserve energy, provide sound buffers and be a lasting benefit for the neighborhood and surroundings areas for many years to come.
